What
are Distance Learning courses?Distance Learning courses offer non-traditional learning opportunities through
the use of videotapes, Internet resources, or videoconferencing as a means of
delivering instruction. Distance Learning provides an alternative way to earn
college credit.
Who takes Distance
Learning courses? Distance Learning
students represent a cross-section of the Forsyth Tech student body. What they
have in common are college level reading & writing skills, effective study
and time management skills, the ability to work independently and
appropriate technical skills. Successful Distance Learning students are
excellent time managers who need the flexibility of distance learning to
manage careers, family, and school.
Required Semester Start-up/Orientation for Online
Courses and Telecourses Students taking online
courses (Sections 80 - 89) and Telecourses (Sections
60 - 69) are required to attend an
orientation.These course orientation
sessions are important as these courses do NOT meet face-to-face.Telecourses require face-to-face
orientations while online courses have online orientations.
Online Semester
Start-up/Orientation Students registered for
online (Sections 80 - 89) courses are required to complete the Online Orientation.If you register during late registration or
Drop and Add, you must complete the Online Orientation as soon as possible.
Click on ”Online Orientation” and follow the
instructions.
Print the instructions.
A “formula” for your username and password in
specifiedin the last step of the
Online Orientation.
Telecourse Semester
Start-up/Orientation Students
registered for Telecourses (section 60s) are required to attend one of two
orientation sessions on Main Campus. A wealth of information for Telecourse students is
